Friday, Jan. 18th

 

1. Robotics club, just a reminder to please check google classroom. 

2. Congratulations to the 8th Grade boys team on the Conference Tournament great win over Crawfordsville last night. The Bruins have advanced to the semi-final game in the tournament. Due to impending weather, the tournament will be moved to Monday after school, not tomorrow morning. Coach Smith will share more details at practice.

3. The 8th Grade Lady Bruins took a loss on the road last night to Cascade 34-12. Scoring for the Bruins were McKenzie W.  with 5, Ryanne F with 3 and Ava S. and Kylie H. with 2 each. Leading rebounders were Claire D. with 5 and each with 3 were Ava S. and Ryanne F. 

4. There are quite a few items in the lost and found here in the office.  Please stop by and see if anything belongs to you!

Thursday, Jan. 17th

1. FCA tomorrow morning at 7:45. 

2. In Sports action tonight, Girls basketball travels Cascade Middle School. Game time is 5:30, with 8th grade to follow.    8th Grade boys basketball travels to Crawfordsville Middle school tonight for the SAC tournament. Game time is 6:00.  Wrestling team will be here tonight taking on Crawfordsville and Speedway. Meet starts at 5:30.  Good luck to all of our athletes tonight!

Wednesday, Jan. 16th

1. FCA small group at 8am in Makerspace

2. Student Council there will be no meeting if we are on delay. See Mrs. Wiley for t-shirt order forms. 

3. Last night the 7th grade boys traveled to Southmont. It was an entire team effort as the Bruins defeated Southmont 52-39. Leading scorers were: Ethan E with 14, Drew M with 8, and Cole M with 7. The Bruins host Avon South Tuesday for the start of the county tournament. 

Way to go 7th grade.  The 8th grade boys were defeated by southmont 62 to 35 last night.  Deep had 10 points,  Durbin 9 points, and Dickey 7 points

4. In last night's wrestling action, your Tri-West Bruins had an outstanding opening performance.  The Bruin wrestlers competed very well with tough county opponents Avon North, Plainfield, and Cascade coming away with many individual wins!  Led by Jake H going 3-0 on the evening, the team had 2 wins from Eston W, Gavin W, Maddox J, Ty O, Spencer W, Jeff M, and Trystan A.  Also contributing wins were Tyler H, Owen F, Gavin S, Tanner A, and Korbin B.  Great opening for the team and the building of a new foundation of Tri-West Wrestling.

Up next for the Bruins, Speedway and Crawfordsville at Tri-West High School, tomorrow!

Tuesday, Jan. 15th

1. Attention all English Bowl participants, please go to Mrs. Diagostino's room after school today for our first practice. Practice ends at 4:30, have your rides ready to go!
 
2.  Why DID seven eat nine?

Math is offering these knee-slapping jokes and the chance to represent the Bruins in the Academic super bowl. Stop by room 202, Ms. Moore to sign up. Math bowl will meet on Thursday until 4:30.

4. Bruins in action tonight:  Wresting team will be home tonight as they take on Plainfield, Cascade, and Avon North Middle school.  Meet is set to being at 5:00. 
 
7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams travel to Southmont tonight. Game time is 5:30 for 7th grade, with the 8th grade to follow. 
 
7th and 8th grade girls basketball is also in action tonight here at Tri-West against Brownsburg East Middle school. 7th grade game will begin at 5:30 with the 8th grade to follow.    Good luck to all our Bruins in action tonight!

Monday, Jan, 14th
1. Robotics club will be postponed until Thursday this week. We will meet on Thursday till 4:30.
 
2. 7th grade boys basketball team: Just a reminder that you need to get on the bus to PES this afternoon for practice. 
 
3. Yoga Club- meet Miss Reck in the Makerspace by 3:30
 
4. YouTube club meets tomorrow at 7:45.  Everyone is welcome.  Meet at Door 2
 
5. Attention all English Bowl participants...our first practice will be Tuesday (tomorrow) after school until 4:30. Please have your ride pick you up at 4:30!
 
6. If you have not turned in your math-a-thon permission slip, please get those to your math teacher tomorrow.  At least tell your math teacher if you are planning to participate so Mrs.  Koontz can order the booklets.  
 
When you are trying to find our school on the website, just type in Lizton, IN, then scroll down.  They did not put the hyphen in Tri-West so it does not pop up when you type it that way.

Friday, Jan. 11th

1. Last night the 7th grade boys basketball team traveled to Speedway to take on the Sparkplugs. Drew Miller lead the Bruins with a season high 23 points. Max Robertson pumped in 17 points as the Bruins cruised to a 55-42 victory.  The 8th graders lost a close game to Speedway.   The Bruins fell to the spark plugs 39 to 36.  Leading scorers were Dickey with 9, Syester with 8, Deep with 6, and benner with 5.

2. The 8th Grade Lady Bruins started their Season Opener with a Win last night over Brownsburg West 33-13. Leading the team in scoring was Ava. S with 16, Kylie. H with 8, and McKenzie W. with  Leading rebounders were Ava S. with 10, Kendall W. with 3 and with 2 each were Ryanne F., Kendall W., and Clair D.   The 7th grade team lost to the bulldogs in a great game! 

3. Yoga starts again Monday!  Meet at 3:30 in the Makerspace- EVERYONE is welcome to come.  Don't forget to wear something comfortable.

Wednesday, Jan. 9th

1. 8th graders, remember you were to add a chart for bottle F AND you will also need to pick a color for the line on your graph for bottle F.

2. Do you love to read? Do you like to win trivia contests? If so, then English Bowl is for you!! If you are interested, please sign up on the sheet outside Mrs. Workman's room. English Bowl will meet on Tuesday's after school until 4:30. Our first meeting will be next Tuesday, so sign up today so you can get your calendars!

3. Yearbook Staff-Check Schoology for important update about yearbook meeting dates.

4. Last night the 7th grade boys basketball team traveled to Frankfort to take on the Hotdogs. The team shut down the hotdogs in the second half, only allowing them to score 5 points in the second half.  With an entire team effort, the Bruins came out of Frankfort with a 45-18 win. Max Robertson lead the team with 15 points followed by Ethan Elzey with 10. Thursday the Bruins travel to Speedway to take on the Sparkplugs.    The 8th grade boys lost a heartbreaker to Frankfort 34 to 33 last night.  Leading scorers for the Bruins were Deep with 10, Osborne with 7, and Dickey and Oldham each with 4. Great second half effort by the boys

Thursday, December 20

1.  8th grade girls looking to play Volleyball next year!  We will begin Open Gyms at the High School starting this Saturday the 22nd from 9-11!  We can get you more dates then.  Contact Mrs. Spoonemore with any questions.  

2.  For collecting the most Boxtops in December, the BIG BALL of prizes was awarded to Mrs. Perry's PRIDE.  Thanks to everyone who participated!

3.  Any 7th grader Miss Reck forgot to give a bonus reading log to who would like one, please see her before you go home today!

Wednesday, December 19

1.  In basketball action last night against the Cascade Cadets, the 7th grade team easily cruised to a victory behind Drew M. leading the way with 18pts, with Ethan E. scoring 14pts. The Bruins sent the Cadets marching with a 42-20 victory. That makes the 7th grade team Bruins a perfect 11-0 going into the winter break.  The 8th grade Bruins  scored a season high 54 points last night against Cascade.  The final score was 54 to 29.  The Bruins had a balanced scoring attack led by Karan D. with 11 and Grant O. with 10. Brayden D. chipped in 8 points.  Cooper S., Conner S., Reid B., and Damon C. each had 5 points.  Tucker W.  with 4 points. Great defensive effort by the Bruins!!

3.  Just a reminder to all students about the Dodgeball Benefit tournament tournament during the last hour or so of school.  The cost to get into the event is $2.  it will be a fun, entertaining, and more importantly rewarding way to end first semester.  All proceeds will go towards one of our own Bruin 8th graders and her family as she battles cancer at St. Judes hospital in Memphis, TN.  The concession stand will also be open if you would like to purchase candy or drinks.

5.  Athletes in the winter sports of girls basketball, wrestling, swimming and diving and the basketball cheerleaders will have their teams' pictures taken on January 10, after we came back from the holiday break   Please keep this in mind.  Coaches will be handling out picture order forms at a later date.

3. Tomorrow will be the last day to buy your sugar plum or yourself a candy cane! Be sure to purchase one for 50 cents during lunch tomorrow!!  All proceeds will go towards Ms. Mitchell's room.
