As most of you know, the IDOH has updated their guidelines giving schools new options regarding quarantine time and close contact tracing. I am attaching a few slides from the IDOH, as well as, the latest guidelines from our local Hendricks County HD. We will begin implementing these new guidelines on Monday, 2-8-21. It is important to note that the new 3 feet distancing rule only applies to the classroom setting at this time. As you will see in the new guidance, all other aspects of school will still require us to use 6 feet as the social distancing requirement. For parents of students K-2, we are still getting clarification regarding the 3 foot rule and/or mask wearing requirements. We will communicate more information to K-2 parents as soon as possible. Although the 3 foot rule does not apply to all aspects of our student's school day, I do believe this change will significantly decrease the number of students who will have to quarantine due to close contact.
Also under the new guidance, students who are quarantined due to close contact but do not show any symptoms by day 10, may return to school after 10 days instead of 14. This is also good news for getting our students back in school. Unfortunately, any student who is under quarantine from the guidelines prior to Monday, will not be allowed to shorten their quarantine.
I want to thank all of our parents, students, staff and community for your tireless efforts to keep everyone safe during this ever changing situation. I hope everyone has a great Super Bowl Sunday and stay warm as the arctic air heads our way!
As always, thank you for supporting our students and schools!
