A Word From the Principal

I strongly encourage parents to build a solid relationship with Tri-West. You are welcome to visit the school, talk with the administrators, counselor, and teachers. Be sure to ask questions early and often. You should not have to guess the answers. Our teaching and staff professionals will eliminate the guesswork. I am proud and pleased to say that the administrators, faculty, and staff members are here to help you.

Philosophy

It is our belief that every student is unique and each needs to be encouraged, guided, and motivated to develop his or her full potential. Our administration, faculty, staff and parents must work together and make every effort to insure that our students receive the maximum opportunity to obtain the tools that
will prepare them for a lifetime of learning.

It is the students’ responsibility to accept the challenges afforded them and to conduct themselves in a responsible manner. Students may not infringe upon the rights of others and each is accountable for their own actions.

To that end, every student needs to be aware of all rules and regulations, and their consequences. It is our hope that a well-defined student code of conduct will serve as the framework for responsible behavior and provide consistency and fairness in discipline.

The School

Tri-West Middle School is part of the North West Hendricks School Corporation which serves over 1,800 students. Fed by elementary schools in Pittsboro and North Salem, the middle school houses 6th, 7th and 8th grades and students feed into Tri-West Hendricks High School.

Tri-West Middle School was initially recognized as a National and State Schools to watch in 2011. We have successfully been redesignated as a STW in 2014,2017, and 2020. We are one of only 14 middle schools in the state on Indiana with this designation.

All schools in the North West Hendricks School Corporation have  been granted full accreditation through the fall of 2011 in recognition and acknowledgement of satisfactory compliance with the prescribed standards of the Indiana State Board of Education.

Renaissance School

The primary goal of the Renaissance Program is to motivate students to attain a higher level of academic success. During the 1993-1994 school year, Tri-West joined more than 4,500 Renaissance schools in the U.S. and Canada that are breaking through the paradigms of today’s educational system by offering numerous recognition and incentive programs to reward both student and staff performance.

In partnership with the business community, the Tri-West Middle School staff will strive to produce educated, responsible, productive citizens. Using the established traditions and positive values as a foundation, we are implementing a new philosophy to transform Tri-West Middle School into a true Renaissance school committed
to “Excellence in Education.”

Building Technology & Features

Tri-West Middle School provides three to five student computer stations in each classroom, as well as three additional computer labs, and a large, open media center. Tri-West Middle School is part of the North West Hendricks wide-area communications network. Students and staff have access to the latest in technology which enhances an already proven curriculum, as well as Internet access. Large classrooms for the fine arts, in addition to technology and family/consumer sciences labs are also featured advantages for our students.  Starting the 2014-15 school year, Tri-West Middle School transitioned to a new "BYOD" or Bring Your Own Device policy.  Roughly 90% of our students bring their own digital device to school each day to use for educational purposes.

Enrollment

Tri-West Middle School has an enrollment of approximately 450 students.

Instructional Staff

There are 29 certified professional personnel employed at Tri-West Middle School. We are fortunate to have an experienced teaching staff with varied backgrounds and training. Teachers continually work together on teams to improve the curriculum and instructional programs offered at Tri-West Middle School

Non-Instructional Staff

Forty-nine classified employees are needed to maintain the daily operation of our school. Nineteen bus drivers transport the students to and from the school each day. Four custodians and three maintenance personnel are required to clean and maintain the school and seven food service workers are needed for the cafeteria operations. Two administrative assistants, five instructional assistants, three technology personnel, and a school nurse are essential to the teamwork necessary for Tri-West Middle School to be effective.
