North West Hendricks Board Approves Interim Superintendent
In a special called meeting Tuesday evening the North West Hendricks School Board approved a temporary superintendent contract for Dr. Scott Syverson. Dr. Syverson will fill the position vacated by Mike Springer earlier this month.
"North West Hendricks feels extremely fortunate to have Dr. Syverson step in at this time to lead our district forward,” said board president Jim Diagostino. “We believe his depth of experience and proven leadership ability will be a significant asset in the education of our students."
Dr. Syverson previously served as the Chief Talent Officer for the Indiana Department of Education where he served as a member of the State Superintendent’s cabinet and oversaw seven departments, including Educator Effectiveness, Licensing and School Safety. He also served as lead on the development of Indiana’s Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), and oversaw the renovation of portions of the IDOE website (Teachers-Teachers.com and EducateIN) to create online supports for potential teachers and districts in need of staff.
Dr. Syverson is responsible for the highly successful Teach to Lead Summit: STEM Focus, a statewide event in which nineteen school STEM teams received expert information and training while designing new STEM initiatives to be implemented in their districts in the next school year.
His previous experience also includes positions as dean, assistant principal, principal, executive director, as well as Chief Talent Officer. Dr. Syverson has been an administrator at both public and charter schools, as well as being instrumental in creating teacher recruitment programs, along with training and professional development for school principals.
The North West Hendricks School board will begin the search for a permanent superintendent at the beginning of the year with a planned start date of July 1, 2020.
