Dr. Jennifer McCormick, Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction, announced this afternoon that school will not reconvene for the 2019-2020 school year. Our At Home Learning plan will still be rolled out on April 14 as stated in my communication earlier this week, however, based on this new information we will be reviewing our AHL calendar for the month of May. Any updates or changes for May AHL will be communicated out in a timely fashion.
According to the Executive Order issued today, seniors who are on track to graduate will receive credits for this semester's classes and, thus, receive their NWHSC diplomas. I have attached the Executive Order to this message. Please reach out to the high school counseling staff with questions.
We understand that our seniors have sacrificed many milestones of their senior year and we will continue to monitor the situation and how all of this may impact commencement. We will wait as long as possible before making a decision on commencement. Due to some deposits and other financial reasons, prom has been cancelled. Obviously, as long as our schools are closed, all activities are cancelled.
I will provide one other FAQ communication tomorrow with some answers to questions we have been getting from parents over the last couple of weeks. We will do our very best to keep you updated. Stay safe all!!
Yours in Education,
Dr. Scott Syverson
