Hello Bruin family,
Well we have made it pass the four week marker here at TWHS. I know the students and staff have all been working very hard, and deserve this upcoming long weekend. As I reflect on passing this marker I want to say how truly impressed I am with how all students and staff have been adjusting to this difficult time. It has been great to see the effort both academically and socially. I am hoping soon we will be back to normal, but until then I confident in saying our students and staff are doing their very best during this strange time. I am including some information that you will need to know. Have a great long weekend!
1. IU Scholarships
For information regarding scholarships at Indiana University, go to this link
A complete application for IU admission must be received by November 1, 2020 for highest scholarship consideration. This includes official test scores (if applicable*) and official high school transcripts. Please encourage your students to allow sufficient time to make requests with testing agencies and your office, as it does take some time for these items to be processed and received by the university.
For the IU Selective Scholarship Application (SSA), students can send emails from the online application to counselors, teachers, and community members to request recommendation letters. All components of the application (including recommendation letters) are due by February 1, 2021, but earlier submission is always beneficial to the student’s review.
2. Attention Freshman Parents:
Beginning on Monday, Ms. Spoljaric (A-K) and Mr. Linn (L-Z) will begin meeting with freshmen students in order to develop a 4-year plan of study. This process will take a while to complete. The goal is to complete the process by the end of September. In November there will be a parent meeting for you to ask questions regarding your child's 4-year plan of study. In addition, Mrs. Miller, Registrar, will begin entering high school credits earned in 8th grade into your child's grade history and transcript.
There will be a presentation on Tuesday during homeroom with a To Do List of things Seniors should be completing. If you are an AHL please join the Google meet during Homeroom time.
College GO! week is Sept. 21-25. Look for information to come in your email with virtual sessions and colleges that will be waiving their application fee during that week.
