Pittsboro Elementary and Tri-West Middle School were awarded the Four Star School Award for 2008-09. This award from the Indiana Department of Education is given to those public schools who meet Adequate Yearly Progress under No Child Left Behind and were in the top 25% of all Indiana Public Schools in four categories:
- ISTEP+ Percent Passing both English/LA and Math
- ISTEP+ Language Proficiency T-Score
- ISTEP+ Math Proficiency T-Score
- Attendance Rate
